Nevada Fine Arts hosted another free event last week. Nina Deckert from Berkley came for the evening to demonstrate and talk about "Golden" art products new line of paint called "Open." It is an artist grade acrylic paint that stays wet longer then regular acrylics. It is a great solution for oil painters who are tired of dealing with solvents. Water cleanup with this acrylic. The paint is "buttery" and stays wet for a long time, allowing the artist time to blend and paint like oils. She also brought samples of the digital ground mediums by Golden. You can put the ground on mylar, foil, specialty papers and gels and run them thru an inkjet printer. Can we call this "Modern Printmaking?" The ground helps the image turn out very colorful and clear on these various surfaces. 30 people attended the demo and everyone left with free samples and enjoyed the refreshments.
