Reno's Best Art Store

Great Local Art Fundrasier

Yesterday, Art by the Inch took place at Studio on 4th. 13 Professional artists painted on 2 continuous rolls of watercolor paper measuring 59inches by 22 feet donated by Nevada Fine Arts. Many of the participating artists are customers at the store. It was nice to be able to participate with them on this fundraiser that benefits Children in Transition, a Washoe County School District program that aids homeless children in achieving high quality academic standards in education. Teddy Swecker's panel was purchased whole for $1000.00. You hold a mat over whatever part of the painting you want to buy at 80 cents per square inch. It gets cut out of the paper, and it is yours. The concept was brought to Reno by artist Pat Wallis who moved here from the Bay Area. The event was highly successful last year. Channel 2 was there to cover it this year. I'll let you know the end results of this year after I talk to Pat. Enjoy the photos.

The "Expressive Pastel Workshop" was a great success. Pattie Woodard, great teacher, artist, person, was an inspiration to create. New techniques were learned. Check out her website at www.pattiwoodard.com

Amber's Reed High School Copper Project

clock December 6, 2008 03:55 by author Debbie
Hi All, The following is an e-mail that I received from a teacher. Click on the link to see the video.
Hi Debbie,
Thank you for the copper, and I wanted to share with you a project I did with the crafts class.  Tell the guys at Nev Fine Arts thank you for the suggestions, and share the movie attachment with them.  I will definitely do this again.  If you have some 32 gauge copper.... save it for me because I will need some more.
Thank you very much, Amber

We used shoe polish and then buffed them out a manicure nail blocks....aren't they beautiful??  The kids really love them, and I am having them do extra credit small ones so we have a center piece to send to the legislators for a luncheon they are having.  The kids are writing a message on the back of each one to say why they love the arts.  We are hoping they will hear us out about saving the arts in schools.

Take care, Amber
