Registration is accepted over the phone by calling 775-786-1128, or in person at the store. Registration is accepted on a first come, first serve basis until maximum class size is reached. Students who need to withdraw from a class after registering may receive a tuition refund less $7.00 administrative cost if Nevada Fine Arts is notified 3 business days before the first session of class. No refunds thereafter. Method of payment: cash, check, or Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. It is recommended to arrive 15 minutes before class begins.
Any materials purchased at Nevada Fine Arts for the classes will be discounted 10% off retail price.

Oil Painting (all ability levels) Session 1

Painters of all levels are welcome. I will work with each artist on an individual basis. We will work on getting a dynamic start to the painting as well as developing strong values in the work. Color mixing and technique will be demonstrated. Class supply list: Bring any oil painting supplies, turpenoid, linseed oil, and paper towels. A list of colors will be sent out after sign up. Oil Painting Session 2

Pastel II

Under-painting with vibrant pastels is the technique to be taught. Students with some pastel experience is required. Individualized attention given throughout each class. First class: Instructor demo, then class uses a still life as subject matter for practice. Second class: Students bring their own subject matter, still life, sketches, and/or photo references. Class Supply List: Two or three 12 x 18" sheets of U-Art Paper; Artists' Tape; Assorted quality pastels such as NuPastel, Dahler-Rowney, Winsor Newton, Rembrandt, Sennelier, Unison, etc.; Turpenoid; Brushes-flats or comparable style-a large and small; Foamcore as a support for your paper which must be large enough to accommodate your paper sizes; Kneaded eraser; One or two Pastel pencils (neutral earth tones mid-value) for sketching. Pastel I

This class is designed for beginners and explores different techniques for applying pastels and different papers. First class: Instructor demo, then students experiment with six varied techniques. Indivualized attention given throughout each class in a relaxed atmosphere. Class Supply List: Quality pastels such as NuPastel-set of 24 is recommended; one sheet of Murano #32, or Canson Mi-Tientes 'Felt Gray', and one 12x18" sheet of U-Art; Artists' Tape, Kneaded eraser; 1/2 sheet Foamboard as a support for your paper; workable fixative. Achieving a Likeness Drawing Class

In a relaxed atmosphere, this class is designed for beginners and explores the principles and importance of value (tone) and shape in achieving a likeness of any subject. The focus is on "seeing" these shapes and identifying values in order to create a likeness of any chosen subject. Students will specifically work with graphite pencils of varied hardness and charcoal pencils. Quality images and reference photos no smaller than 8 x 10 are suggested. Students may also bring their own still life set ups, and sketches, etc. Class Supply List: Graphite pencils HB, B, 2B, 5B, charcoal pencils or sticks; white chalk pencil or stick; Individual sheets of Murano #29, #32, #33, or Soft White; or Canson Mi-Tientes 'Felt Gray' or comparable paper for charcoal; kneaded eraser, various sizes of tortillon stumps; sandpaper; drawing board; Artists' tape; fixative.
